Mad Magazine was founded in the early 1950's and is still going strong today. Mad satirises American culture and politics through it's articles, comic strips and cartoons.

Mad Magazine

Mad is an American humor magazine founded by publisher William Gaines and editor Harvey Kurtzman in 1952. Offering satire on all aspects of American pop culture, the monthly publication deflates stuffed shirts and pokes fun at common frailties. It is the last surviving title from the notorious and critically acclaimed EC Comics line. Mad's sales peak was in the 1970s, but its critical heyday is in the eyes of its beholders. The magazine's art director Sam Viviano has suggested that historically, Mad was at its best "whenever you first started reading it." Taken from Wikipedia.

Alfred E Newman Mad Magazine

Alfred E. Neuman is the fictional mascot of Mad. The face had drifted through American pictography for decades before being claimed by Mad editor Harvey Kurtzman after he spotted it on the bulletin board in the office of Ballantine Books editor Bernard Shir-Cliff. Since his debut in Mad, Neuman's likeness, distinguished by jug ears, a missing front tooth, and one eye disquietingly higher than the other, has graced the cover of all but a handful of the magazine's 450+ issues.
